Garden Corps - Project Coordinator
Arizona Sustainability Alliance (AZSA) Mission
To create and support cutting-edge, project-based sustainability solutions in Arizona
Mission Statement - Sustainable Food Systems
We are dedicated to creating and supporting regenerative local food systems. Through community engagement, education, and project-based assistance. We intend on empowering low-income communities and creating equitable, affordable food access throughout Arizona.
Objectives - Garden Corps
- Increase food security in low-income communities and mitigate food deserts by supporting the Garden Corps program that builds community around local garden development
- Support project partners in educating and training community members on garden development and community engagement
- Provide Arizonans an outlet to receive comprehensive garden education, training on how to build community around gardens, and the tools to make their visions come to life.
Role Purpose
Ensure the success of the Garden Corps program by maintaining partner relationships that support community-driven garden development in local food deserts.
Responsibilities
- Maintain communications with project partners The Urban Farm and Grow PHX by attending regular meetings and collaborating in program development
- Coordinate with community members to assist with training progress and attend Barnraiser (garden development) events and document through photos, videos, and community stories
- Write grants to support community garden development
- Be consistently available and responsive to the AZSA Food Systems team and project partners
- Report all progress and information back to Food Systems Priority lead

- Outstanding leadership and organizational skills; you are a relationship builder who "manages by influence"
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly collaborative work style
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Ability to serve as a unifying force and to lead discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
- Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
Time commitment: Approximately 5-10 Hours Per Week
