During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Help greet family members and visitors to our Hospice Home, Taylor House. You will be the first point of contact when visitors arrive to see their loved one in Hospice care. Empathy and good interpersonal skills are needed. Help screen visitors for COVID-19 by taking temperatures. Track visitors and maintain approved visitor ratio per standards set in place due to COVID. Ensure visitors wear a mask and sanitize hands at time of arrival. Direct visitors to the patient's room. Answer phones if needed. Direct patient-specific questions to the Nurses on staff.

Hospice care at UnityPoint is a coordinated care approach between a medical director, physician, nurse and others who all work together to provide the right plan of care to improve the quality of life for the patient. The hospice team is supportive in every way necessary to honor the wishes of the patient. Hospice is not about giving up hope; it is about doing everything possible to live life to its full capacity.
UnityPoint Hospice volunteers are an integral part of the Hospice care team. Volunteers can provide direct and indirect patient support. Direct support includes: bedside companionship, respite care for the family, patient life review, supportive phone calls, letter writing to the patient, hand massage, listening to music, playing a musical instrument, pet therapy. Indirect support includes: running errands, greeting and screening visitors at Taylor House, administrative tasks, answering phones, etc. We work with each volunteer to help determine the right fit and area in which to help.
We'll work with your schedule.
