AARP ME

****THIS OPPORTUNITY IS VIRTUAL BUT IS WITHIN THE STATE OF MAINE****

We've got more than 200,000 AARP members here in Maine but little local organization to make an impact. We're building local strength with older Mainers interested in getting organized and getting serious about making Maine more than just "the oldest state."

There's much to do. We work on select issues debated every day in the Augusta State House. Those issues have real world impacts for older Mainers and their families. Issues like:

  • Building retirement savings options so today's workforce can retire securely tomorrow.
  • Improving access to long term care for all Mainers
  • Helping more Mainers age-in-place through expansion of home and community based services.
  • Fighting for fairer utility rates for older Mainers

Community Leads work to support AARP Maine's statewide effort through local outreach and community building. The goal is to build support through relationships and virtual events:
  • Hosting virtual Kitchen Table Chats with local state legislators
  • Becoming a local expert on one or two key issues impacting older Mainers (listed above).
  • Representing AARP and older Mainers in your local newspaper or radio station.
Come help us build a better Maine for all older Mainers and their families. There's much to be done.
