Animal Care League is in need of a Receptionist to maintain the flow of the front office. This is a fast-paced position with responsibilities that include engaging with the public, receiving donations, explaining ACLs adoption and foster processes, sanitizing the office after each visitor, and maintaining traffic within the lobby. Candidates must enjoy working solo and with a team in an office environment, must maintain professionalism at all times, have great communication skills, as well as possess a strong work ethic, good attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. This position is directly managed by the Office Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Available to Level III and above volunteers*
- Attended New Volunteer Orientation
- Attended Shelter Safety Training
- Attend Event Orientation (after 30 hours of service)
- Enjoys working solo or with a team
- Must be honest and trustworthy
- Minimum of 1-year administrative experience is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Possess the ability to follow direction
- Must be a self-starter and problem solver
- Must have attention to detail
- Must be empathetic toward animals and people alike
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Tend to the front lobby door to respond to public inquiries accordingly
- Maintain cleanliness of office and lobby areas
- Receive donations and offer tax-deductible receipts
- Ensure that all ACL constituents are wearing proper PPE
- Take contactless temperature readings of all ACL constituents and volunteers upon entry
- Ensure that the public does not scare or over-stimulate pets housed in the front lobby
- Must have a thorough understanding of when and how to offer resources to ACL constituents
- Other tasks as assigned

In addition to possessing the required skills and education requirements, candidates with English-Spanish bilingual linguistic capabilities would be preferred.

The Animal Care League is a limited admission shelter located in Oak Park. We help homeless cats, dogs and other small animals by providing them food, shelter, medical attention and love until we can find them a loving home. As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we depend on the generosity of our communities to help us meet our goals of finding new homes for as many animals as possible each year.
