Are you the kind of person who knows the Arts industry like the back of your hand? Do you spend your nights and weekends keeping up with all things Arts and Culture? Would you consider yourself to be connected with the whos who of the Arts and Culture scene in the Pacific Northwest?

This is the role for you!

As the Head of Curation for Arts and Culture, you will be responsible for identifying top trends in the Arts & Culture scene and connecting the changemakers who are at the forefront of those trends with TEDxSeattle in the hopes of recruiting them as speakers. You will also make sure that the speakers we recruit from the these industries are actually who they say they are and that their work and ideas are reputable.

This role reports to the Head of the Speaker Team and will work directly with the Speaker Recruiting team as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying top trends in the Arts and Culture scene
  • Source a shortlist of potential speakers who are at the forefront of innovation in these industries
  • Validate that prospective speakers' work is reputable and well regarded in their industry
  • Work with a team of recruiters to ensure that the candidates you've identified are properly worked through the speaker recruitment process. (We have a thorough recruiting and speaker vetting process, your role will be to identify the candidates and validate their pedigree, you don't need to guide the prospective speakers through the recruitment process)
  • Fact-checking speakers who have applied to speak to make sure their work checks out.
  • Assist in final speaker selection as a subject matter expert for Arts and Culture
  • Review speaker drafts to make sure they are factually accurate.

Time Commitment:
  • 3-5 hours per week. Heavier in some weeks during the first half of the year.
  • Need to be available for virtual team meetings/zoom calls once per week.

About TEDx Seattle TEDxSeattle is one of the first TEDx events offered in the world, and is our region’s premier TED-style event as well as the largest in Washington State. Our premiere event is usually hosted at McCaw Hall, where we guide 2,800 people through a series of TED talks, audience activities, and lobby experiences over the course of a day. We also produce a series of smaller TEDx events around Seattle during the year.

TEDxSeattle is a volunteer-based organization that strives to spread ideas worth sharing. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSeattle, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxSeattle event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
