CKAR Greater Riverdale Cares and Route One Communities Cares: Volunteer Needed

Covid-19 is having devastating effects on our local communities. Prince George’s County residents who too often already struggle to put a meal on the table are now faced with joblessness and uncertainty about their health and their future.

In spite of the temporary efforts of local food banks, families are going hungry. Several of our locally owned restaurants are also struggling to stay open and in many cases have had to lay off their employees. Greater Riverdale Care/Route 1 Communities Cares (feedrouteone.org) gives small, locally-owned restaurants a stipend to cook nutritious meals that are then distributed to community members at sites serving our local communities.

We are looking for a volunteer that can assist with hot meal distributions at various apartment sites in Riverdale Park, including Jefferson Hall, Riverdale Village and the Swift. Transportation is required, bilingual preferred. Duties include distributing meals to apartment tenants, collecting data via google forms, and managing clean up after the event is over. Hours will vary but are not to exceed 5 hours per week. A stipend will be provided.

We need your help to get these meals to hungry families. A couple hours of your time can mean that your neighbor won't go hungry today. Thank you in advance for volunteering.
