Mission Statement

Oakwood Education Foundation aims to provide educational assistance to underprivileged students who cannot afford help in hope of mending the achievement gap that is present in educational systems.

Description

Oakwood Education Foundation is a non-profit organization, just starting in July of 2020. After spending time social distancing, our President, Eesha Kurella, got involved in the issue of educational inequality, working with other nonprofits and spending hours researching. After seeing how deeply so many people were affected, she decided to start this nonprofit. This nonprofit is working towards providing free tutoring, summer and college preparation courses, and resources for low-income families to utilize in their own homes cost effectively in hopes of bringing about equity in the distribution of resources in our system. In addition, this nonprofit is working towards using their outreaching abilities to inform the public about the issue through blog posts, social media, outreach campaigns, etc. We are currently a nonprofit private foundation under the International Revenue Code 501(c)(3).
