We are a tiny nonprofit organization looking for an executive assistant and/or general administrative help in order to be able to see our vision of COMMUNITY come to reality. From our Executive Director:

"I have a vision that will turn communities back into the real meaning of the word - people who support and take care of each other, teach each other skills, feed each other, and truly know each other. Creating these communities is the SINGLE biggest thing that we can do to combat social ills such as poverty, drug use, and homelessness. This vision will WORK!

"I have been tasked by my state legislator with writing the vision down and presenting him with a completed document that describes the need, the steps, and the supporting research. I know everything that needs to go into the document, but I need someone with the right skills to work with me to actually put it together. At the same time, I continue to have new ideas that will support this vision, but no one to do the legwork or keep me organized so that we continue moving forward. I am also looking for ongoing help in the form of an executive assistant who can take some of the day-to-day stressors off my plate and allow me to stay focused on the big picture."

Mission Statement

By creating a safe, relationship-focused environment, we seek to: • Be a voice for the neglected and disenfranchised in our community, who for various reasons have not been given a chance to fit in • Initiate and maintain conversations about the invisible barriers that keep people separated, such as differences in race, culture, personal beliefs or socio-economic status • Empower those who come through our doors by offering community workshops that teach practical and interpersonal skills • Establish consistent connections between the community and local entities--government, schools, churches, etc.--such that the needs and ideas of the community are central, and the various entities contribute toward novel solutions from a posture of listening and learning

Description

Broken-down communities invite social problems such as addiction, homelessness, poverty and loneliness. Investing in reestablishing communities is the key to eliminating these problems.

Community Central was born out of the last 25 years operating as Open Door Youth Center, where we learned that the breakdown of communities can be halted-even reversed. Over the past decade, we have had hundreds of current and former attendees tell us, "This place is the reason I didn’t follow in the destructive footsteps of my parents and siblings; it’s why I never got sucked into drugs. This place is what got me through the hardest years of my life. This place is why I finished high school and went to college, why I have a job, why today I can contribute to society. This place kept me on a right path, taught me God’s truth, and gave me the life skills I needed."

Community Central is here to foster community where it doesn’t currently exist. With your support, we will take the sametactics that have proven effective with youth and build a family that encompasses community members of all ages.
