Mission Statement
AMP’s mission is to help at-risk girls (grades 4-8) develop a positive self-image, supportive networks and competences that will allow them to thrive through peer to peer connections, life skills sessions and holistic health activities.
Description
A Mother’s Promise (AMP), Inc. based in Washington DC. We are a tax-exempt nonprofit organization incorporated in 2020 under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code Tax ID 84-5148503.
A Mother’s Promise reaches out to current and former at-risk youth - a population too often characterized as being less likely to transition successfully into adulthood and achieve economic self-sufficiency and potentially lacking formal education and training, under-employment, early parenting, homelessness, incarceration and suicide. We are working to assist these youth in attaining life- changing skills, life-affirming experiences and identifying/ accessing resources needed for survival and positive development. We do this in part by facilitating positive peer connections to improve the likelihood that the youth involved with us will become stable and successful adults.
AMP believes a girl is not one dimensional and neither is her journey into womanhood. This transition is an intense and thrilling ride through some of the best years of a young lady’s life. Our wrap-around programs focus on developing the whole girl through long-lasting mentor-ships, peer-to-peer connections, and educational experiences equipping our promised with the skills to navigate through life with confidence as barriers are broken, self-discoveries are made, and unrealized potential is unleashed!CAUSE AREAS
