Thanks for your interest in volunteering with the Shadow Project!

As we expand our programming, we need to be able to communicate with students, parents, and community members in the language they feel most comfortable engaging in. As a Volunteer Translator, you'll help translate written materials. At the moment, we do not need verbal translation services.

We are in need of translation from English to RUSSIAN.

If you have any questions, please contact serve@shadow-project.org. To apply, please complete the application here: https://forms.gle/YfQSJ9SpD42JRw757.

As part of our commitment to advancing equity for diverse learners, we work to recruit and retain a diverse staff, volunteers, and board-one that welcomes and engages people with diverse, intersectional identities. We encourage and support applicants from all backgrounds to join us in our work. This includes -- but is in no way limited to -- people experiencing disability, BIPOC individuals, and LGBTQIA2S+.

About The Shadow Project

Location:

2154 NE Broadway, Suite 130, Portland, OR 97232, US

Mission Statement

The Shadow Project envisions an education system that normalizes and celebrates learning differences and supports every student to thrive in school. We have a proven track record of fostering social and academic growth for schoolchildren with learning challenges such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and trauma, many of whom are from communities of color, low-income backgrounds, and/or are English Language Learners. With the conviction that all students can graduate from high school given access to the right supports, The Shadow Project provides innovative tools and techniques tailored to diverse learners and supports teachers in integrating those tools into their classrooms. Together we've helped to unleash the potential of more than 14,000 capable learners in grades K-12 in Portland, McMinnville, and Salem.

Description

Founded by a Portland mom whose son, who has dyslexia, was ready to give up on school in second grade, The Shadow Project has helped foster success for children in pre-K - th grade whose special education needs include dyslexia, ADHD, autism, speech/language challenges, and trauma.

The Shadow Project has evolved from an all-volunteer "mom and pup" operation to a 501(c)3 nonprofit partnered with schools in multiple Oregon counties. The organization has three proven programs (https://www.shadow-project.org/school-programs/)that celebrate the inherent worth of every child.
