Job Description: The Grant Writer drafts and submits proposals for financial grants from governments, foundations, and other agencies. Before drafting a proposal, the Grant Writer researches funding opportunities and eligibility criteria of the grant opportunities. The Grant Writer then prepares the application along with supporting documents, for example: cover letter, endorsement letter, how the funds will be used, etc. The Grant Writer also follows up on proposals and responds to donors’ queries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand the objectives, programs, and financial needs of CI2.
  • Research funding opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  • Draft strategic, clear, and persuasive grant proposals and supporting documents as required.
  • Submit proposals to Grants Coordinator for approval.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with funding providers and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as needed.

Recommended Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, communications, creative writing, or related area (or working towards bachelor’s degree). Strong research skills. Persuasive communicator, in print and in person. Organized with good planning skills. Able set, and meet, deadlines.

This position is great for someone with an interest in finance who loves writing, wants to roll up their sleeves, learn new things and take ownership of projects. The Grant Writer will work on a flexible schedule with a team who will provide the necessary support to win.
