ORGANIZATION: Abilities in Harmony

Image_202011091544

Abilities in Harmony is a nonprofit organization based in La Crosse, Wisconsin that provides show choir camps to middle and high school students with special needs. Through three day camps, the students have an opportunity they wouldn’t ordinarily have to sing, dance, and perform on stage.

The organization has grown from the La Crosse, Wisconsin area to holding camps in four other locations in the Midwest. We are looking for current students or recent graduates looking to build their videography portfolio by creating videos for our nonprofit. We also welcome anyone willing to support our organization with their technology and talents. We have various video projects that we would like completed by the Spring, and you can help with one or all. All we ask is that you commit to a project up front and follow through.

Duties:

  • Capture action on camera - Take video with high quality sound and lighting.
  • Direct action - Help to coordinate people and actions during shooting. During the season of COVID-19, videography will not be needed at camps, but after it passes, we will need footage taken of camps with up to 40 people. It is important to us that you are confident in your role to direct people to get the best possible footage.
  • Edit recorded video - Comb through footage for the best content that clearly expresses the purpose of the video. Especially during camps, there can be hours of footage, but we only want to use the best of the best. Additionally, interviews will be taken, and only the most inspirational and informative content can be included in the final product.
  • Design promotional and informative videos - Abilities in Harmony will be using these videos on social media, organization website, and email marketing. Primarily, these videos will be used to promote fundraisers, but we are also creating videos to inform volunteers about duties and expectations, families about safety precautions, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: experience filming and creating promotional and informational videos
  • General knowledge of videography
  • Ability to create and edit promotional and informational videos with video editing software programs
  • Proven success in meeting deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail

This is a volunteer position that will be called upon as needed. Please submit a resume if you are interested in doing work anytime within 2020 or 2021 in the La Crosse, WI area or Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area.

Our volunteer photographers and videographers are primarily students looking to build a portfolio and gain experience to apply to future positions. Abilities in Harmony is happy to serve as a reference for future positions. The volunteers name, logo, website, and contact information will be shared on the organization website, and they will be given a shoutout on social media pages.
