As a Red Cross volunteer you will provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience. Engage with blood donors to promote blood donation and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations. Express gratitude and ensure each blood donor receives a sincere "thank you" for their donation. Model excellent customer service behavior. Greet donors, escort as necessary and assist with initial intake and hand-offs through the blood donation process
Take temperature of potential donors (supplies provided)
Attend to donors in the Hospitality Area by ensuring that each donor is recognized for his/her contribution and watched for possible adverse physical reactions
Set up and maintain cleanliness in Reception and Hospitality Areas
Responsible to inform donors of current and upcoming donation promotions
May make reminder calls, re-schedule donor appointments, and perform follow up activities as directed
Please note: Drives (and volunteer needs) are mostly during business hours on weekdays
Requires a consistent minimum of 6 hours per month
Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills
Extremely comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds
Ability to understand technology needed for position: Donor Check-in, Donor Tablet, Rapid Pass, Donor App.
Ability to explain/teach technology to donors and fellow volunteers
Ability to regularly commit to schedule, arrive punctually and adapt to a change driven culture
Length of Appointment
Must be able to commit to at least 3 months of service

2. Hover over the volunteer tab
a. Click on "Become a Volunteer"
3. Find and click on the red "Find My Volunteer Opportunity" button
4. Where it says "Enter Zip Code Here," type in your zip code and click "Search"
5. Choose "Browse Volunteer Positions" then choose the opportunity interested in (Blood Services: Blood Donor Ambassador) (DO NOT choose one that says "NHQ")
6. Click "Apply Now"
7. Create a Red Cross ID
8. Go through the application, following all prompts until you authorize the background check
a. If you have issues completing your application, click "Volunteer Help" in the upper right corner
