Haitian-Creole speaking skills are a MUST!
This is a remote & flexible role of no more than 1-2 hours a week during the weekday. Volunteers will be trained and matched with a JVS ESL student based on mutual availability.
JVS is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers; and to partner with employers to hire, develop and retain productive workforces. JVS provides a broad range of services including adult education, skills training, job readiness training, job placement and support, and access to post-secondary education. JVS assists employers in their search for well-qualified job applicants and their initiatives to upgrade the skills of their incumbent workforce.
Role Overview:
JVS' many ESL programs are all currently taught online due to COVID-19. These online learning platforms include Zoom, Google Classroom, and WhatsApp. We are seeking Haitian Creole speaking volunteers to help students, one-on-one, to connect and use Zoom/Google Classroom/WhatsApp so that they engage in class. All volunteers will be trained, and then paired with a student(s) to walk them through downloading apps, using platform's functions, and other technology functions.
