Sacramento Braille Transcribers, Inc. is a nonprofit located in Sacramento, CA. SBT’s purpose is the transcription, embossing and binding of printed material into braille and related activities.

We are looking to fill the Board Treasurer position.

This is a COVID-19 friendly, virtual position with all duties performed remotely.

The Treasurer’s term would be from their start date until May 11, 2021.

In-Kind Labor Duties will include:

  1. Accounting
  2. Filing Federal and State Tax Returns Annually
  3. P&L Statement and Balancing Budget Management
  4. Annual Financial Report Administration
  5. Participation in Weekly Zoom Meetings of the Board

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelors or a Masters in Accounting, Finance or a related field and have an interest in the braille industry.

We estimate that the volunteer Treasurer position will take about 10 hours a month.

Mission Statement

The Sacramento Braille Transcribers’ mission is to produce high quality, affordable braille and tactile images.

Description

For 62 years, the Sacramento Braille Transcribers, Inc. has helped people get access to material in braille, large print and tactile images. We have transcribed math textbooks, complete with tactile images of venn diagrams. We have produced the California State Library’s quarterly newsletter in braille. We have made tactile picture books for classics like "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. We’ve also transcribed show brochures for musicals, restaurant menus and appliance manuals. We are passionate about producing high quality, affordable braille!
