Hosparus Health of Barren River is seeking volunteers in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, and Warren counties to provide companionship and respite visits to patients/families. Patient support volunteers will have the opportunity to visit with a patient to provide companionship, relieve loneliness, and share interests. During your visit you will often sit and talk and may play games, cards, or read. As a volunteer you may be visiting a patient who does not have friends or family, or visiting while family is present. A Kn95 mask and googles (provided) must be worn at all times by the volunteer. Volunteers are required to complete a self-assessment prior to visiting with any patients and must have received the COVID vaccine. From November 1st to March 31st, volunteers must have received a flu shot.

Hosparus Health volunteers must be in good health, have available transportation, and complete an application and required training. The organization needs volunteers of all ages and interests. Volunteer opportunities will be on-going as long as the volunteer remains compliant with necessary requirements. Applicants can be completed here: MyImpactPage - Hosparus Health (betterimpact.com)

Volunteers may live in any of the 10 counties listed above. Volunteers will have the opportunity to travel to any of the counties listed, but can choose assignments where they would feel most comfortable.

For 40 years, thousands of people living with serious and life-limiting illnesses in Kentucky and Indiana have relied on Hosparus Health to help them get the most out of each day. We provide compassionate palliative and hospice care wherever our patients call home. Our nationally recognized Care Teams offer medical care and pain management, individual and family counseling, personal care, companionship, spiritual care, and so much more.

Our services are available to patients of all ages. Through our Kourageous Kids, program, one of the first pediatric palliative and hospice program in the country, we care for seriously ill children and their families. And as a fully accredited nonprofit organization, our services are available to any patient who needs us, regardless of their ability to pay.
