LOCATION: Harvey Penick Golf Campus 5501 Ed Bluestein Blvd., Austin, TX, 78723

DESCRIPTION: The Foundation Tour was established to provide on-course learning and to introduce elementary and middle school students to competitive golf. There are two divisions: Elementary (grades 1-4) and Middle School (grades 5-8). Each division will play once a month at The Harvey Penick Golf Campus.

About First Tee Greater Austin

Location:

Mission Statement

A local chapter of The First Tee National Organization, The First Tee of Greater Austin's vision is based on the unwavering belief that: 1. We can enrich kids' lives with lessons taught through the game of golf. It is our goal that participants not only learn the life-long game of golf, but that they also acquire personal assets--such as resiliency, self-worth and a sense of integrity and responsibility--which will help them develop long-term physical, mental and social health. 2. Kids from all walks of life should have a place to learn and play. Consequently, our purpose is to introduce kids of all walks of life to the game of golf; and to create facilities and programs that make golf more affordable and accessible. 3. The First Tee of Greater Austin is in need of good mentor/coaches to help teach these valuable lessons in our weekly golf lessons.

Description

The First Tee of Greater Austin is a nationally-affiliated, PGA, LPGA, Augusta National Golf Course, PGA America and USGA endorsed not-for-profit organization that strives to:

Make the seemingly exclusive game of golf all inclusive, accessible and fun for Austin-area elementary, middle and high school youth
Develop in each child life skills related to interpersonal communication, goal setting, healthy behaviors, dealing with adversity and problem solving
Recruit, manage and develop the best coaches, mentors and volunteers available
Offer a curriculum that advocates continual development, and measures the success and improvement of each child, as well as the program itself
Build strong relationships with all those involved including kids, parents, schools, partners, sponsors and volunteers
