No minimum time commitment is required - you may sign up to volunteer sporadically or on a recurring basis. Documentation for proof of volunteering is available upon request. Guidelines are in place to ensure zero person-to-person contact.
Nearly 1 in 8 Massachusetts households cannot reliably access food. Meanwhile, about 40% of it feeds landfills. That’s where Rescuing Leftover Cuisine steps in. Our mission is to prevent consumable excess food from being wasted by redirecting it to feed people instead of landfills!
Whether you are 9 or 99, on 2 feet or 4 wheels, solo or as a team, you can volunteer with RLC! An average Rescue Event averages 40 minutes to pick up surplus food or meals prepared for donation from businesses and deliver them to designated recipients using our Food Rescue Website. Food Donors include restaurants, hotels, schools, caterers and others. Recipients include shelters, soup kitchens and other human service agencies who serve people experiencing homelessness, hunger and food insecurity, and eligible households in partnership with local schools and organizations.

Description
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food rescue organization. RLC uses a custom web application to crowdsource community members as "Rescuers" to transport excess food from food donor partners to nonprofit recipients, feeding people instead of landfills.

- FOOD RESCUES EVERY DAY in the areas of Greater Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, MetroWest and North Shore. Each food rescue averages 40 minutes. No minimum time commitment is required. Documentation for proof of volunteering is available upon request.
