Volunteers are needed at the Red Cross Oakland Blood Center (6230 Claremont Ave., Oakland, CA 94618) to take temperatures of all incoming clients and staff members. Due to COVID-19, the Red Cross is implementing numerous safety protocols at all facilities, with temperature screenings being one of the precautions taken.
To get started, please register at https://volunteerconnection.redcross.org/intake.
Once registered, volunteers will be able to sign up for shifts at their convenience. Shifts run 7am-10am, or 7am-11:30am, depending on the day of the week. This opportunity is available Mondays - Thursdays. See shifts below:
Monday - 7:00am - 11:30am
Tuesday - 7:00am - 11:30am
Wednesday - 7:00am - 11:30am
Thursday - 7:00am - 10:00am
Volunteers will be provided information beforehand of how to use an infrared thermometer. Additionally, on-site support will be provided by staff members. Note that the wearing of masks in the facility is mandatory, but you will be provided with a mask and gloves if desired. Must be 18+. There is no minimum commitment needed.
