Where are Reception Volunteers utilized? LACASA utilizes an amazing team of volunteers on a weekly basis to run the reception desk at LACASA's comprehensive services Center, located at 2895 W. Grand River Ave., Howell, MI 48843
What do Reception Volunteers do? Volunteers help in our main lobby at the reception desk, answering phones, transferring calls, greeting clients, staff, and community members, and by being a smiling face for those who come to the center for services.
What kind of Availability is there at the Reception Desk? Typically we recruit reception volunteers for our Alternate Team who fill in shifts when our Regular Team is unable to fill a shift. However, with 2020 approaching, there have been a few regular shifts open up. Regular shifts are a weekly shift on the same day of the week and same time. There are also semi-permanent shifts available, especially in the colder months, as some of our regular volunteers travel. Available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the mornings from 9am-1pm). Occasional 1pm-5pm shifts available on Fridays or as needed Monday-Thursday.
What do I need to do to get involved and what should I expect? Contact our volunteer coordinator (info below), complete a volunteer application and clearance form (all free to you!), and schedule a date to come in for a training shift, where you would shadow with a seasoned volunteer. Following your shadowing shift, you are welcome to take shifts by yourself!
