Volunteers are the "heart of hospice."
We need a volunteer like you to work on non-patient related mailings, research, other projects at home or in the office, file paperwork, do computer data entry, answer the telephone, assist with mail-outs, run errands and assist in many ways that add to the joy of caring.

There are many people who support the philosophy and care of the hospice, but prefer not to have direct patient contact. They may not feel comfortable being around seriously ill people or may have experienced a recent loss of a loved one. They are no less a part of the hospice team. Their contributions must be acknowledged as a valuable component of the hospice program.

All volunteers including direct services to patients and families, bereavement services, and/or office volunteer services, will be trained pursuant to the requirements established by Medicare and the State of Virginia.

Training must be completed prior to the volunteer beginning his/her service hours. The objective of the volunteer training is to ensure the volunteer is familiar with hospice services, philosophies of death, and dying including grief, as well as the exploration of attitudes about terminal illnesses.
After the completion of our training program, we maintain that you are not under any obligation to continue volunteer services.
