ORGANIZATION: A-KEEP

Goal of the Project: Alabama Korea Education and Economic Partnership (AKEEP) has a primary mission to provide multilingual multicultural diversity education programs to the students and professionals of Alabama and Korea. The secondary mission is bridging the differences between institutions and corporations of Alabama and Korea for local economic prosperity as a global partnership facilitator. The proposed VISTA Project aligns primarily the education for the focus of antipoverty economic opportunities. The Project will strengthen our organizational capacity to reach primarily low-income K-12 students who are qualitied for free to reduce lunch and teach them Korean as a Second Language (KSL) and provide Multicultural Diversity education through BUD [Bridge of Unity in Diversity] program. These AKEEP programs from an early age teach students to learn Korean as a foreign language by developing language and communication skills and teach them how to accept multiheritage peers with open-mindedness so that they later work well in a multicultural or multilingual worksites in this globalizing world. We prepare them to increase employability at local Korean manufacturers and/or other industries requiring a bilingual skill and multicultural understanding. VISTA members will contribute to the mission of AKEEP for VISTA Project by assisting our organization's Public Relations & Outreach in person and online social media platforms; coordinating K-12 schools especially of low income area’s students, families, and communities; researching for grant and fundraising opportunities for AKEEP’s programs and services; building and maintaining internal database for sound financial management system as well as all auditable documents. These activities will take place onsite during the entire project period.
Member Activity: Working ONSITE ONLY, VISTA will understand/represent AKEEP mission, programs, and projects either established or in development. Design and prepare visual layouts for website software coding. Create and edit visual concepts, graphic deliverables & assets for digital and print media for all promotional needs including flyers, brochures, and videos. Operate and maintain all social media equipment. Capture photos and edit visual content for multiple digital messages and print platforms. Compile and manage the photos, audio, and videos in secure spaces and archive the materials for future use.

Description

Volunteers will contribute to the mission of AKEEP by:

  1. assisting our organization with public relations & community outreach both in-person and online social media platforms
  2. coordinating events designed for K-12 schools in the Montgomery area students, families, and other community non-profits and associations
  3. research grants and fundraising opportunities for AKEEP’s programs and services
  4. building and/or maintaining an internal database for students, contacts, stakeholders, partners, and sponsors of activities.
