Addressing Gender-based Violence in Turkey

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: CIVIC WORKS

Violence against women is a serious problem in Turkey, and the government instead of acting aggressively to stop it, is actually intending to leave the Istanbul Convention against violence against women and domestic violence. There have been many cases in recent years of femicide, of women being murdered and their murderer either not being prosecuted, or facing an unacceptably short sentence.

Volunteers will reach out to some of the families of the victims and see if we can make their stories heard internationally, and also pressure Turkey to remain in the Convention. We will have the opportunity to publish stories on the RaisetheVoices.org website as well as other locations.

About CIVIC WORKS

Location:

Mission Statement

We created civ.works as a platform for all of us to work together to overcome the corrupting influence of money in politics. Together we can address bad policy, legislation and to hold all of our elected officials accountable. For democracy to work -our government must represent "We the People". civ.works: Together. We can.

Description

civ.works is a privacy protected social platform built for meaningful civic action.

The concept of civ.works is to finally provide a societal machine to stand up against something created nearly 50 years ago -and begin the process of empowering citizens again. We are building a platform together -against an incredibly mature and well-funded machine. Your volunteer efforts will be helping us collectively build something powerful and important.
