The Food Shuttle maintains two urban gardens: a demonstration garden on Geer Street in Durham and a community garden on Camden Street in Raleigh. These locations engage citizens in growing techniques, food production, bee pollination, and health education. The Urban Agriculture department also offers a program called Gardens for Everyone, helping build garden beds in residential settings. Internships involve active engagement with the concept of urban agriculture, with volunteers, and with growing food!
Internships are for 3 - 4 months, based on the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters (Jan - May, May - August, August - December).

We engage communities facing hunger to understand their unique needs and barriers. Then by building relationships and engaging our neighbors, we create programs and initiatives that meet specific needs, breaking the cycles of poverty, restoring dignity and improving the health of our community. We have served the seven counties of central NC for over 32 years and are a member of the Feeding America network of 200 food banks across the nation.
