WHO WE ARE: Global Orphan Foundation is an Indianapolis based non-profit with a global mission - to advocate on behalf of orphaned and vulnerable children worldwide and respond with action. We have witnessed firsthand the struggle to meet the basic needs of orphaned children in third-world and developing countries and are committed to easing that burden. We believe that all children deserve proper nutrition, access to healthcare, and educational opportunities.


WHAT IS BOLINGO VILLAGE: Located in Democratic Republic of Congo, Bolingo Village is the signature project of GOF. By employing widowed women as licensed foster moms and building families with orphaned children, we are leveling the playing field for orphaned children in Congo and affording them the emotional, physical, and spiritual care that they need to thrive. Our sustainable children’s care village goes beyond meeting basic needs by providing access to education, a clinic for consistent medical care, a farm for balanced nutrition, clean running water, a loving foster family, and space to run, play and be kids. In short, Bolingo Village is a community that allows for a robust and abundant childhood with a bright future.

YOUR ROLE: GOF is looking for a student interested in participating in a "gap-year" following graduation. This individual will live at Bolingo Village near Kinshasa, DR Congo for 6 months to a year. Their role will be:
● Passive oversight of our staff on the ground, ensuring that a routine that works for us has been established and is abided by
● Ensure comprehension of US staff’s vision when new projects start
● Daily communication with U.S. staff
● Assist with translating when necessary
● Self-determined project based on your interests and skills

Beyond that, we will work with the candidate to provide an experience that allows for them to work towards their own goals based on their area of interest.

Requirements and compensation:
● College graduate
● Speak and write fluent French
● Willing to come to Indianapolis for a 1-2 month training period (housing provided)
● Candidate will be compensated with a stipend, living expenses while in DRC, letters of recommendation, and assistance with achieving their goals for this experience
