Looking for a FuRRend for the weekend? Join our team of fosters who support our dogs in the advanced stages of the training program.

We are looking for committed and dedicated individuals to help IHDI/ Paragon get the dogs that live on campus off campus the weekend.

  • There is no financial commitment, and no prior dog training is needed. IHDI will give you all the tools, training, and supplies for a weekend foster stay. Extended stays are available. All training and ongoing support are provided.
  • For the weekend program, pick up your foster dog on Thursday or Friday and drop them off on Monday morning. The foster will be responsible for all transportation to and from our facility in Longmont. IHDI asks each foster to fill out a detailed report so our trainers can determine the next steps in the dog's training.

A foster's role is to maintain the dog's training, make observations of the dog, and provide a safe and loving home for their stay.

Mission Statement

International Hearing Dog, Inc. (IHDI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Henderson, Co. IHDI's mission is to empower individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing by purposefully training specially selected dogs to alert to sounds, carefully matching these dogs with handlers, and supporting the paired teams throughout the lifetime of the match.

Description

Established in 1979, IHDI has placed a service hearing dog in all 50 states and in Canada. Our vision for the future is to increase awareness and understanding of the needs of the hearing impaired community and the critical role of hearing dogs. During the stay at home orders implemented by Colorado, all staff worked from home and while all dogs in training were fosters by volunteers and members of the community. We took this time to completely implement and improve all aspects of our program, mainly our foster program. Please join us in raising the next generation of hearing dogs for the Deaf and hard of hearing community.
