The Kehilat Food Pantry is looking for volunteers to help pack and distribute food for the pantry's distribution line amidst the COVID-19 pandemic! Volunteer shifts take place Monday - Friday from 9am - 12pm and 12pm - 3pm.

Register here, http://vhub.at/KehilatFoodPantry.

Established in 1991, the Kehilat Sephardim Food Pantry serves over 1,200 families of the local community weekly who do not have enough food because they lack the funds. We distribute over 8,000 food packages and holiday meals every month by scheduled distributions and immediate emergency response. The Kehilat Food Pantry strives to provide a three to five day supply of emergency groceries for every family and individual in need of food assistance.

Volunteers will assist in handling a broad range of kosher produce and goods for the Kehilat Food Pantry's underserved community. This pantry serves a diverse population so proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese is helpful (but not required). Volunteers will be operating primarily outdoors and lifting of inventory around 10-20 lbs may be required.

For the safety of our clients and volunteers, all must adhere to COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols. Clean masks and gloves are required and will be provided on site. The facility has handwashing stations for frequent sanitation.

Mission Statement

HUNGER FREE AMERICA is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grassroots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.

Description

HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.

Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
