Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver meals, a friendly smile, and a check-in to the homebound elderly living in Beloit, Wisconsin. We are very flexible in your availability to volunteer. The time commitment can be 1x/month, or more if you want, and delivery takes 1 - 1.5 hours of your time using your own vehicle and gas and deliveries occur during the lunch hour. We are flexible with training and can partner you up with a seasoned volunteer for a test drive, or provide you with some e-training materials combined with in-person learning, Since we deliver 365 days a year, weekend volunteers, as well as "on call" drivers to fill in for vacations, occasional vacancies, and inclement weather are also needed. We have a total of 10 routes that leave our office during the weekday (Monday - Friday); and 4 routes that leave our office on the weekends (Saturday & Sunday).

If you haven’t already done so, also watch any one of our volunteer videos which are located on our website at https://www.beloitmealsonwheels.org/videos/ so you can get a feel of the important role you will have in our organization. Once we receive the completed form, we can go ahead and schedule a time for you to shadow one of our experienced volunteers and answer any questions you may have. We also have a document that outlines our COVID-19 Guidelines for Volunteers which explains how our program is responding to the pandemic and new delivery protocols.

Description
Since 1971, Beloit Meals On Wheels has provided daily nutritious meals and information to promote dignity and independence for homebound elderly, ill and disabled. We are the only provider in the area that delivers meals 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays. We are able to continue the mission of our organization thanks to our dedicated volunteers, over 600 strong, who deliver once a month, once a week or more often - and they are the heart and soul of our organization. Our volunteers donate their time, gas and vehicles, this program continues its modest management expenses with only 1 full-time employee and three part-time employees. But we deliver more than a meal - our volunteers often serve as the only human contact many of our clients receive each day - bringing a friendly greeting, as well as providing a safety check along with nutritious meals.
