Are you looking for a way to support a local non-profit?
Volunteer for Sharing the Dream in Guatemala!
Sharing the Dream is a volunteer-based fair trade organization that works to reduce poverty in Guatemala through collaborative partnerships with Guatemalans. We offer Guatemalan crafts including handmade beaded jewelry, handwoven scarves, baskets from all-natural materials, and hand-carved wooden spoons.
As a volunteer, you would assist customers, promote fair trade, and run the cash register. In the effort to protect against COVID, we have created a plexiglass barrier at the cash register, provided facemarks and hand sanitizer for customers, and asked that everyone in the store wear a face mask. There is also plenty of room to social distance in the store!
Our Sioux Falls stores is located downtown in the Jones 421 Building.
Our hours are currently:
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 12-6 (2 shifts available: 12-3 and 3-6)
Friday 11-7 (3 shifts available: 11-2, 2-5, and 5-7)
Saturday 10-4 (2 shifts available: 10-1 and 1-4
If you want to help with those shifts or some other time during the week, let me know by phone (817-703-8240) or email (sfmarketplace@sharingthedream.org).
Thank you!

Mission Statement
Friends of Sharing the Dream in Guatemala is a volunteer-based. fair trade organization that works to reduce poverty in Guatemala through collaborative partnerships with Guatemalans. 100% of donations and 90% of profits from sales of our handmade Guatemalan crafts support projects such as food and medical care for elders, an orphanage of over 250 children, and the building/furnishing of a new school along with paying teacher's salaries, all within the communities of our craftspeople.
Description
Sharing the Dream in Guatemala began in 1996 with the dream of promoting sustainable fair trade by providing fair wages and employment opportunities to low-income artisans. We work with more than 20 cooperatives and small businesses that use traditional Maya techniques to create unique, handmade products. The purchase of these crafts not only provides an income for these artisans, but also supports community development projects in Guatemala.
