ORGANIZATION: Mercy Housing California

  • 8 people are interested

COVID - 19 has created food security concerns for many and it has changed how we help those who need access to healthy food.

Our bi-weekly food bank is well utilized, which often makes it difficult for staff to transport, move and distribute alone. Join us and roll up your sleeves to organize and help with food pick-up and delivery. Volunteers like you make it possible!

Distributions are every 2nd Wednesday and Last Thursday of the month to help those in need access healthy food. Volunteers are needed between 11:30am - 2:30pm to assist with unloading, bagging and distributing.

We will practice safe social distance protocols, and we ask that all volunteers bring a mask and gloves.

Mercy Housing California at Beverly Terrace is an affordable housing community serving 40 family households in Linda, California.

About Mercy Housing California

Location:

1360 Mission Street,, Suite 300, San Francisco, CA 94103, US

Mission Statement

To create stable, vibrant and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities.

Description

Mercy Housing was founded in 1981 in response to the lack of stable, affordable housing for vulnerable populations. In working to fulfill our mission, Mercy Housing California has developed more than 154 affordable housing communities in 36 counties throughout California, providing 17,000+ homes and serving over 24,000 people in need.

Mercy's commitment to program-enriched housing distinguishes us from many other large scale affordable housing developers. Housing is foundational - everyone needs a home. But many people who have endured poverty and other challenges need an additional hand-up to create the lives they want for themselves and their families. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work with residents right in their homes and neighborhoods on issues like health and wellness, housing stability, financial security as well as provide a full range of enriching out-of-school time options for youth.
