ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) department. This is a remote (volunteer-from-home) position. This position provides programmatic support to the NHQ DCS Response Program by supporting the development, implementation, rollout and ongoing support of software systems.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position will vary based on the systems development activities in progress at NHQ. The responsibilities may include the following:

  • Work collaboratively with other DCS staff to draft requirements documents for new systems, new features, testing of systems, training and deployment of new systems.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for ongoing technical support for new and existing systems utilized for Response Programs in the field.
  • Act as local or regional liaison for NHQ systems projects to facilitate requirements gathering and ensure successful deployment of new systems.
  • Manage teams of volunteers as needed to develop Standard Operating Procedures, documentation and training.
  • Liaise with 3rd party vendors as needed for definition, design, development, troubleshooting and deployment of new and ongoing system refinement.
  • Conduct data analysis and create reports or dashboards to display the results.

Qualifications:

Required Experience
  • Access to computer/tablet, phone and internet required
  • Strong understanding of the development lifecycle of business systems
  • Ability to participate on a team using a collaborative style
  • Takes initiative and can work independently
  • Quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Utilizes Red Cross SharePoint and/or Microsoft Teams (requires a Red Cross email) - Familiarity with Microsoft PowerApps or willingness to learn desired
  • Knowledgeable in software systems
Preferred experience:
  • Strong understanding of the development lifecycle of business systems
  • Database design and SQL
  • Python, Javascript, Ruby, or other scripting languages
  • Configuration of 'COTS’ systems
