ESOL & Citizenship Tech Facilitator for Zoom Classes

BEACON for Adult Literacy

BEACON for Adult Literacy, an award-winning literacy organization, is recruiting volunteers to become virtual technology facilitators for our winter ESOL and citizenship classes from November 30th to March 5th. We have classes on Monday and Wednesday morning (9:00-11:00 am) and Tuesday and Thursday evening (6:30-8:00 pm). Technology facilitators are needed to provide technical support via Zoom for instructors of online classes 2-4 hours a week. We ask for a one or two day commitment per week, during class times, for the 12 week term. Basic knowledge on hosting meetings and using Zoom features, preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Starting the Zoom class
  • Admitting students and teachers from waiting room
  • Support students and teachers with microphone and camera connections
  • Support teacher with any technology needed such as sharing materials with the screen share tool

The mandatory training date for this position is Thursday November 5 th from 5:30-6:30pm

BEACON for Adult Literacy, an award-winning literacy organization, is recruiting adult volunteers to become ESL teachers in the Manassas area. Volunteer are needed to provide small group instruction in English as a Second Language (ESOL). No second language or teaching experience is required. Free professional level training is provided. Standardized curriculums and textbooks are used. The curriculum is user friendly and makes teaching easy and fun! Description

BEACON is a low-cost program for adults which offers literacy instruction in the areas of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Pre-GED preparation (high school equivalency), and citizenship preparation. Our students come from all over the world. Trained volunteers work with individuals and small groups at our partner sites throughout the Manassas area.
