Join Helping Hands Community and the St. Francis Center (a nonprofit that provides hunger relief to extremely low-income families and individuals in greater Los Angeles) every Friday morning, to deliver much needed food and grocery items to homebound seniors in the area during COVID-19. Due to their higher risk for COVID-19 infection, seniors are unable to pick up these essential items and need our help.

You must complete your registrationprior to the event day:

  1. Create an account on the Helping Hands Community website - www.helpinghands.community. Sign up is free, and you'll be required to complete a brief background check. You will only receive your delivery list through your account. so it's important that you create one before the event.
  2. Once you complete the background check, navigate to the "Help Someone" tab and "All help requests". This will let you view community and individual requests within your area that you can help with!
  3. Select "I can help" for the St. Francis Center Community Delivery event.
  4. Volunteers will receive an email/text with information on what to expect how and when to pick up the food pantry boxes, how you'll receive your delivery list (includes recipient's name, address, and phone number), and a cool link to your driving route!).

Community Delivery allows Helping Hands to support local organizations by enabling volunteers to deliver donated groceries to homebound community members who are at high-risk for COVID-19 infection.

Deliveries are located within 5 miles of St Francis Center and we'll provide a link when you check in with a suggested driving route on Google Maps. Sign up for more information!

Thank you for helping your community members during these challenging times!

Description

At Helping Hands Community (HHC), we're building technology to empower the organizations that serve our communities. Our technology platform empowers community partners-including food banks and pantries, service providers, and healthcare organizations-to deliver groceries and other essential supplies at scale through our network of delivery partners and volunteers.

We're a nonprofit organization, founded by veterans of Uber, Facebook, and Google during the COVID-19 pandemic. After one year of operations, we're proud to report that the Helping Hands platform has partnered with 20+ organizations to deliver food to more than 60,000 U.S. households.

To grow and extend our impact far beyond the pandemic, we received a $250,000 seed investment from Pivotal Ventures, an innovation and incubation company created by Melinda Gates to advance social progress. At Helping Hands Community (HHC), we're building technology to empower the organizations that serve our communities.
