City Gospel Mission - The Thanksgiving Exchange

The Thanksgiving Exchange is a grocery store where low-income families can shop for their own Thanksgiving groceries at a very low price that they can afford, allowing them the dignity and job of providing for their family as well as selecting the items that they want. This year, things will be tweaked a little bit in order to keep everyone safe in the midst of a global pandemic.

1. YOU MUST BE 18 OR OLDER TO VOLUNTEER THIS YEAR
2. ALL VOLUNTEERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO READ AND SIGN THE COVID-19 FORM WHEN THEY ARRIVE FOR THEIR VOLUNTEER SHIFT.
3. ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACE MASK WHILE VOLUNTEERING.

Volunteers will stock shelves with food donations and pack groceries for families according to what they have pre-selected on their grocery list. Families will arrive at a pre scheduled time to pick up their groceries.

Mission Statement

Breaking the cycle of poverty and despair, one life at a time.

Description

City Gospel Mission helps mend lives and create a bridge between people of faith and people who have lost hope. Founded in 1924, City Gospel Mission helps the homeless and hurting break the cycle of poverty and despair...one life at a time. We engage, equip and empower those in need with the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical skills and resources to achieve long-term life transormation and self-sufficiency.

Our programs and services are centered on caring, personal relationships focused in four key service areas: food and shelter, drug and alcohol recovery, youth development and job readiness and placement.

We collaborate with more than 350 local churches and 2,500 volunteers to annually serve more than 6800 adults and 9800 youth.
