The Fargo VA is seeking to recruit volunteers willing to serve our Veterans during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Red Coat Runner program is a hybrid program combining two essential positions: patient escort (Transport) and patient greeters.
Essential Duties of the Red Coat Runners:
-Greet Veterans and guests who've completed COVID Screening and assist them with the centralized check-in process
-Work with Medical Support Assistants (MSA) to ensure patient waiting rooms conform to social-distancing guidelines
-Escort Veterans and guests to appointments when appropriate to ensure timeliness
-Provide wayfinding directions as needed
-Utilize the kiosk to help check Veterans in for their appointments
-Respond to requests for patient transports from various departments
-Transport lab specimens to laboratory for processing
-Routinely sanitize wheelchairs after Veteran use with provided cleaner
This exciting and fast-paced opportunity will require volunteers whom are energetic, patient-centered, flexible and have excellent verbal communication skills.
This position also requires that volunteers are capable of standing for extended periods and able to push a wheelchair.
*Due to COVID-19 precautions, all volunteers, employees, and guests must wear a face mask at all times.
Current openings:
Thursday 8am-12pm AND/OR 11pm - 3pm
Substitutes or those with flexible schedules are always needed!
*The Fargo VA has a 50 hour lifetime volunteer requirement, and all volunteers must pass a background check, submit to a TB test, and obtain a flu shot prior to volunteering.
