Volunteers for Community Impact

Volunteers for Community Impact (VCI) needs your help in building safe and supportive communities for boys and young men of color where they feel valued and have clear pathways to opportunity. We are focused on recruiting volunteers, community stakeholders, and other supporters to assist us in improving the lives of boys and young men of color. MBK’s work is rooted in six key life milestones that research shows are especially predictive of later success, and where interventions can have the greatest impact.

  1. Getting a healthy start and entering school ready to learn
  2. Reading at grade level by third-grade
  3. Graduating from high school, ready for college, or a career
  4. Completing post-secondary education or career training programs
  5. Successfully entering the workforce
  6. Keeping kids on track and giving them second chances

Mentors will meet with young men of color, virtually, during their school day. Hours are flexible, but one hour a day is required.

*Due to COVID-19, all mentorship opportunities are virtual at this time.*
