Bereavement Volunteers are personally called and trained by AccentCare Hospice to provide outreach to caregivers and family members who have recently experienced the loss of their loved one through death. Volunteers make calls six months after a loss to check on low-risk family members.

Volunteers typically set aside one-hour per week to make calls to families.

You will work closely with our social workers, who provide you the list to contact. You provide the compassion, heart, and listening ear.

This opportunity is excellent for future social workers.

Description

Hospice affirms life. Hospice exists to provide aupport and care for persons living with a serious illness so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. Hospice is specialized care that provides supportive care directed towards enhancing quality of life. Together with the patient and family, the interdisciplinary caregiving team focuses on the individual's physical symptoms as well as the emotional and spiritual concerns of the patient and family.

Understanding that it is a privilege to accompany patients and families on this unique journey, hospice strives to uphold the patient's personal dignity and to ever sustain hope.
