Become a Neighborhood House Volunteer Driver!

Access to transportation is a major challenge facing seniors and adults with disabilities in SW Portland. We urgently need your help to provide trips to medical appointments, supportive services, and more.

Volunteer Drivers:

• Provide rides using their own vehicles or an agency vehicle
• Do not need a special driver's license
• Our hours of operation are Monday thru Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. Volunteers may choose the times, days, and areas they wish to drive.
• Do no heavy lifting or weight bearing
• Receive free training in defensive driving and passenger assistance.

Join others who are offering life-sustaining and life-enhancing transportation services to their neighbors! Your help is vital in keeping seniors and adults with disabilities healthy and involved in our community.

We are seeking volunteers who can drive their own vehicles as well as volunteers who have experience driving a large van. No commercial license required.

Through Neighborhood House's Senior Transportation Services, we promote active and healthy lifestyles for seniors and assist them to live independently, offering services to enhance life socially, physically, and intellectually, with an emphasis on promoting choice and dignity. By volunteering as a driver, you help promote a healthy and social lifestyle for the seniors in our community who need it most.

Requirements:
*PLEASE NOTE: As of October 18, 2021, in compliance with the Multnomah County mandate, Neighborhood House requires all in-person volunteers to be fully vaccinated. Please submit with application.
