Humane Society of Loudoun County

Help the Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) by serving as the Volunteer Engagement Lead to manage the placement and engagement of new Volunteers! This all-virtual position is vital to maintaining our volunteer ranks, allowing us to save more animal lives. The key responsibilities include:

  • Work with Volunteer Orientation Lead to ensure newly trained volunteers are connected with the appropriate HSLC program lead
  • Communicate with Program Leads to ensure all volunteers are actively engaged and meeting program needs
  • Routinely follow-up with volunteers (individually and en masse) to ensure talents are being utilized and volunteers feel like they are positively impacting the HSLC mission
  • Gather and collate metrics regarding volunteer accomplishments and provide to Volunteer Coordinator
  • Coordinate closely with Volunteer Coordinator to identify process efficiencies in the volunteer management program and expand new processes to the larger HSLC organization
  • Assist with the recruitment and orientation of volunteers as needed
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Skype, and email
  • Enthusiastic about HSLC mission and programs
  • Consistent ability to respond via email within 24 hours. Other volunteers can help provide email response coverage on a temporary basis if needed (e.g., vacation)
  • Highly organized and detail oriented. Demonstrated experience in managing details
  • Work well both individually and with others
  • Ability to interact with volunteers and other program leads with high energy
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal

The Humane Society of Loudoun County is a foster-based volunteer organization that partners with the community to save more animals and achieve a No Kill Community


The Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) is a non profit 501(3)c animal welfare organization founded in 1966. Our mission is to partner with our community to work towards a time when all animals have loving homes. We do not have a physical shelter or location.

Based in Loudoun County Virginia, our programs and services include Rescue (Intake), Foster, Adoption, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) / Community Cats, Barn-Working Cats, Pet Pantry, Low Cost Spay / Neuter, Financial Assistance, Media & Public Relations, Youth Education & Programs, Humane Education, Paw Prints Newsletter, General Helpline & Email, Fundraising, Volunteer Management, Social Events, Fundraising Events, and Community Outreach.

In 2019, we supported 134 adoptions, helped 169 community cats, moved 22 working cats, supported 773 spay/neuter surgeries, and delivered 21,475 pounds of Pet Pantry food to Loudoun Hunger Relief. We are looking to surpass these numbers in 2020 through the help of our incredible volunteers.
