Do you have a passion for volunteer engagement? Do you want to help the Humane Society of Loudoun County make a difference in the lives of our furry friends? If so, this is the PURRRFECT opportunity for you. Join the Volunteer Management team to recruit, train, engage, and acknowledge our community of dedicated volunteers!
As the Volunteer Engagement Lead, you will manage the placement and engagement of new Volunteers! This all-virtual position is vital to maintaining our volunteer ranks, allowing us to save more animal lives. The key responsibilities include:
- Work with Volunteer Orientation Lead to ensure newly trained volunteers are connected with the appropriate HSLC program lead
- Communicate with Program Leads to ensure all volunteers are actively engaged and meeting program needs
- Routinely follow-up with volunteers (individually and en masse) to ensure talents are being utilized and volunteers feel like they are positively impacting the HSLC mission
- Gather volunteer accomplishments and provide to Volunteer Coordinator
- Serve as a regular contributor to the Volunteer Newsletter (HSLC Heroes) and assist with the administration of the Volunteer Facebook Page
- Assist with the recruitment and orientation of volunteers as needed
- Experience using, or willingness to learn, Google Apps, Skype, and Canva
- Ability to respond via email within 24 hours
- Highly organized and detail oriented; demonstrated experience in managing details
- Works well both individually and with others
- Ability to interact with volunteers and other program leads with high energy
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
- Enthusiastic about HSLC mission and programs!

Description
HSLC has been helping animals since our founding in 1966. HSLC has no paid staff nor a physical facility or shelter; all of our animals are in foster homes, display cages at local pet stores, or in temporary boarding until they are adopted into their furever homes.
Thanks to our volunteers and community support, HSLC helped thousands of animals in 2023:
- Nearly 200 cats and dogs fostered
- Over 200 community cats supported
- Nearly 6,000 animals fed via the Loudoun Pet Pantry
