Meals on Wheels Volunteers

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Aging True

We have over 400 volunteers that deliver Meals on Wheels meals within our 8:30am-2:30pm delivery time. Monday thru Friday at several drop sites throughout Duval County, although our office operates out of 4250 Lakeside Dr. . Each drop site requires approximately 1 hour of service. The time, days and frequency of volunteer delivers depends greatly upon the drop site need.

One site experiencing immediate need is our Arlington site located at Arlington Presbyterian Church site at 1300 Sprinkle Dr . 32211. This site meetings volunteers between 8:30am and 8:45am in the morning for volunteers to then deliver to seniors in that zip code with a shift roughly 8:45am-10:15am.

Volunteers are instructed to wear mask while delivering food to clients. Due to Covid-19, volunteers do not have to go inside the home, but must knock on doors to ensure that client is receiving the meal.

About Aging True

Location:

4250 LAKESIDE DR, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32210, US

Mission Statement

Aging True provides essential and innovative services and care for individuals, families, and communities throughout Northeast Florida to prepare for and support graceful aging.

Description

Today, Aging True is one of Northeast Florida’s largest non-profit providers of senior services and a leader in enabling home-based senior independence.

Since 1962, Aging True - operating as Cathedral Foundation of Jacksonville Inc. and subsequently in partnership with Urban Jacksonville Inc. - has designed and administered programs to help seniors in Northeast Florida maintain independence and age gracefully.

Cathedral Foundation of Jacksonville was established by a group of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral parishioners who were concerned about the health and welfare of the elderly in Jacksonville. Their grassroots initiative expanded in 1974 to include Urban Jacksonville as a focused community service division dedicated to the needs of seniors. And throughout the years, the organization has expanded to meet the needs of the community

In 2011, Cathedral Foundation of Jacksonville Inc. and Urban Jacksonville Inc. formally changed their name to Aging True to better reflect the services we provide and the seniors we serve. The name "Aging True" speaks to our support and celebration of independent, graceful aging through our comprehensive programs and services - what aging should be.
