ORGANIZATION: DOVA INC

Doug Varone and Dancers is looking for engaged individuals interested in supporting a ground-breaking dance company in its continuing journey. We currently have a small but dedicated board and would like to expand the resources provided through board engagement, providing the Company with the benefit of your particular skills and experience, whatever they may be. While there is not a hard dollar commitment for financial contributions by Board Members, we would expect you to contribute an amount that is meaningful to you.

Mission Statement

For more than 30 years, Doug Varone and Dancers has devoted itself to the humanity and virtuosity of dance, reaching out to our audiences well beyond the proscenium arch.

Description

Throughout the company’s history, Doug Varone’s choreography has been recognized for its physicality and the profound emotional insight of his artistry. Accordingly, DOVA has been honored with 11 New York Dance and Performance Awards (Bessies). DOVA has toured to more than 125 cities in 45 states across the US and in Europe, Asia, Canada, and South America. The Company is one of the most sought-after ambassadors and educators in the field with its multi-discipline programs that take audiences deeper into the work, with hands-on approach that moves beyond the studio to speak directly to people of all ages and backgrounds, both dancers and non-dancers alike.

In the concert dance world, Varone has created a body of works globally. Commissions include the Paul Taylor’s American Modern Dance Company, The Limón Company, Rambert Dance Company (London), Martha Graham Dance Company, Batsheva Dance Company (Israel), among others.
