Established in 2000, Caudwell Children is a national charity which works to transform the lives of disabled children and their families, enabling them to challenge the barriers they face throughout childhood by providing practical and emotional support.

The charity is going through an exciting period of growth having recently opened a new state-of-the-art facility for multi-disciplinary therapy programmes for childhood disability and research of neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism, within the grounds of Keele University.

Caudwell Children Autism Service is based within Caudwell International Children’s Centre on Keele innovation and science park.

The autism service is a multi-disciplinary team made up of Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Administrator Clinical Assistants, Family Support Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists Registered Learning Disability Nurses and Speech and language Therapists. We provide two day diagnostic assessments, one day Occupational Therapy assessments, a range of adult and child workshops and 12 months Family Support by our dedicated Family Support Assistants.

We accept referrals from throughout the United Kingdom and Europe and at present we assess children between the ages of 4-11 years.

This volunteer role is specifically designed to support the specialist autism service, Caudwell Children Autism Service.

Description

Caudwell Children provide family support services, equipment, treatment and therapies for disabled children and their families across the UK. We also provide autism assessment and support at our purpose built Caudwell Internation Children's Centre based in Staffordshire.

Passionate, positive and practical; we are motivated to improve the lives of the estimated 770,000 disabled children living in the UK, starting with the 400,000 living in or on the margins of poverty.

We can help with:

- Family support services and short break activities

- ASD assessments from our multidisciplinary clinical team

- Funded mobility and sensory equipment

- Access to life saving surgeries and treatments

- Life changing therapy and support programmes for children with brain injuries and their families
