Description

The Arizona Science Bowl competition is a statewide academic competition for middle school students of Arizona. In this event, middle school students compete in a fast-paced verbal forum to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math. The competition follows a toss-up question and answer format that is similar to the TV game show Jeopardy. The first place team of this regional competition wins the opportunity to then compete at the National Science Bowl for Middle School Students competition in Washington, D.C. on an all expense paid-trip.

The Arizona Science Bowl is an initiative of the Arizona Technology Council Workforce Development Committee. It has been organized every year, since 2007 by the SciTech Institute and our sponsors.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl(r) is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Middle and high school student teams from diverse backgrounds are comprised of four students, one alternate, and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. These teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and math.
