AC-OCAP is now accepting applications for CDBG District 4 in Oakland and Alameda County-Community. Please refer to the area-specific materials at www.oaklandca.gov/services/join-the-alameda-county-oakland-community-action-partnership-board. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the seat is filled.
The AC-OCAP Administering Board members are responsible for planning, developing, and executing the local Community Action Plan for alleviating poverty and working toward institutional change to enhance the ability of low-income residents to achieve self-sufficiency in Oakland and throughout Alameda County (excluding the City of Berkeley). AC-OCAP’s priority focus areas are: family self-sufficiency, entrepreneurship/job training and employment placement, low-income housing, community economic development, supportive services, civic engagement, advocacy, and capacity building.
The AC-OCAP Board is comprised of 18 members that represent public officials in Oakland and Alameda County, private groups and interests, and not fewer than a third are democratically elected/selected representatives from the low-income community. The Administering Board meets on the second Monday of every month at 5:30pm at City Hall.

Description
The Alameda County-Oakland Community Action Partnership was established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America's War on Poverty. Alameda County - Oakland Community Action Partnership (AC-OCAP) is part of broad national and statewide network of nearly 1,100 agencies, both non-profit private and public organizations, that extend across the United States-all working to eliminate poverty on a local and national level. CAP involves local citizens in its effort to address specific barriers to achieving self-sufficiency.
AC-OCAP is committed to reducing poverty by providing services and programs targeted to low-income individuals and families. AC-OCAP has been funding programs and projects in the low-income community since 1971.

- Orientation or Training
- 4-6 hours per month, including review of the Board Agenda Packet and attendance at board and committee meetings. The Anti-Poverty Board meets at Oakland City Hall on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. (currently via Zoom Teleconference).
- Applicant must live in CDBG District 4 or Alameda County to be considered for the open seats.
