Title: Seeking coach to teach fencing classes to special needs kids (4-6 kids)

About the organization:

We are a nonprofit organization based in New York. We provide therapeutic enrichment services to children. Services are open to all children, but especially benefit those who have ADHD and learning disabilities.

Your role:

Experienced and creative Coach/teacher will teach basic fencing skills to a small group of 4-6 kids. Class meets 1 day per week for 1 and a half hours. Teach kids basic fencing skills, such as footwork, fun dodging activities, the rules and safety of fencing, such as with striking. Due to safety, there is NO HARD HITTING with swords allowed. Kids wear equipment at all times during sparring to protect themselves.
We would provide the materials/equipment for the kids.

Location: via ZOOM, on-line

Job Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience with fencing: basic skills, such as footwork, foiling, striking, defense moves, and more. Understanding the rules and safety of the sport/game and how to earn points!

*1 year of experience working with kids (elementary or middle school age)

  • a ZOOM account and computer

*You must have and bring your own fencing equipment

*You must have patience with young kids who have special needs
