Downtown Streets Team Redwood City

At Downtown Streets Team, we empower individuals who are currently experiencing or at risk for homelessness to be a part of their own solution through the dignity of work. In exchange for their work beautifying our community, our Team Members receive case management services and assistance in their search for long-term employment.

Our Team in Redwood City is extremely language-diverse; nearly half of our Team Members are more comfortable speaking Spanish than English. We are looking for enthusiastic, empathetic volunteers who are fluent in both Spanish and English to help facilitate communications between our Spanish speaking Team Members and English speaking staff and Team Members.

While hours can be flexible, we would prefer it if you can make it to some or all of our weekly success meetings, which happen from 12:00pm-1:00pm every Wednesday behind the Redwood City Public Library.

About Downtown Streets Team Redwood City

Mission Statement

Downtown Streets Team is ending homelessness through the dignity of work while working to change perceptions of homelessness in our communities.

Downtown Streets Team was founded in 2005 with the goal of simultaneously addressing problems of homelessness and accumulation of litter. Since that time, our work-first model has allowed for Downtown Streets Team to expand to 16 communities throughout the Bay Area.

Our program empowers individuals who are either currently experiencing or at risk for homelessness to volunteer their time to beautify their communities. It has been described as a "win-win-win" by one of our Team Members, in which the Team Member, the community, and the environment all benefit from DST's program. In exchange for this work, Team Members receive case management services and assistance in their search for employment. Downtown Streets Team is meant to be a temporary bridge between homelessness and long-term housing and employment, helping to remove barriers that may prevent our Team Members from reaching their goals on their own.

Redwood City is home to one of our newest Teams. We look forward to continuing to build our Team, and hope that you will bring your unique skills, personality, and ideas to the table as we grow and continue to meet Redwood City's needs.
