Needpedia was created to unite people over the best ideas on Earth, and when you think about it, that would be a really exciting thing for a journalist to cover. Not only are we going to showcase the best ideas on Earth, we've built tools for citizens and experts to collaborate on them. You wouldn't believe the things this site's designed to enable people to do. So this also represents a chance to showcase technology.
People can use Needpedia to list and vote on everyone's ideas for improving Needpedia too so there's going to be a lot more tech in development as things progress.
I was thinking the publication should be called The Needpedian. Because it's based on tech named Needpedia. Which is named that because it's inspired by a conflict resolution language that's built around "Need literacy", and by Wikipedia, which proved it's possible to create a website that's made by its users. If you think of a better name I'm open to suggestions too, mostly I just want to see the interesting stories that are about to take place get documented. Overall this will be a series about hope, and innovation. -Of an underdog, and a working class that's increasingly global. But mostly, this is about a species that's trying to survive in the face of an economic model that's destroying Earth's life support systems. This is about the resistance, and new technology.
I wish I could promise you the budget to travel abroad and document these happenings in person, but I can't. Needpedia's publicly funded to avoid conflicts of interest. So if you want to really stick it to the man, this is a good position. We just ask people to represent Needpedia as fairly and reasonably as possible. At least speak to both sides of the argument, even if you're just going to them explain why one side is wrong. -Instead of traveling yourself, I figured it'd be much more cost effective, (and ecologically responsible), to contact users making things happen and see if you can get statements, pics and video from them.
The beauty of this is that people's attention spans are short, so you'd basically just picking the most interesting 2 or 3 things you hear about that month and writing about them. If people like it though, they could totally use Needpedia to crowdsource resources to make it into a show. If the users like it, and Needpedia can get famous, then it's official publication could end up getting a lot of attention. There's a lot of potential here. To create a wiki for all solutions to problems, so that people can come together over their ideas, and collaborate with experts to solve them more easily and effectively than ever.
Needpedia was inspired by Wikipedia, but its goals are very different: to make it easy to see all potential solutions for any problem, or in other words, we want to create a space for showcasing the best ideas on Earth.
