Needed: Bus Buddy volunteers! Are you an experienced bus rider who would like to help others become more comfortable riding the bus in Thurston County? Bus Buddy volunteers are trained, learn the new safety protocols, and then get matched with riders who want a little extra help riding the bus. You'll receive recognition for your service, group lunches twice a year, reimbursement for meals, and mileage reimbursement if necessary. Description
Our program exists as a safety net for low-income elders and people with disabilities (also low-income)by providing them with services that allow them to remain living as independently as possible in their own homes (not assisted living). For example, a 89 year old woman who only collects $600/mo. in Social Security needs help with her lawn. She can't afford to pay someone, and if her lawn goes a couple of months without being mowed, now the lawn is a fire hazard.
