The impact of COVID-19 has altered the way Community Tech Network provides support to seniors and higher aged adults. We need education advocates like YOU to help these populations gain internet comfortability by supporting them as their personal Digital Coach!

Having home internet connectivity and knowledge is more important than ever! It might be hard to believe, but there are many people in San Francisco who don't have access to the internet and have never learned how to use digital technology. CTN Digital Coach Volunteers will support senior learners in the safety and comfort of their home or residence through our new online program, Home Connect.

Only basic computer skills needed. What is more important is that you are patient, friendly, and interested in supporting adult learners! There is an especially high need for Tagalog and Spanish speakers! This is a great way to give back to adults in your own community by giving them the skills they need to stay connected to friends and family and access vital resources, in their native language.

What you will do:

  • Commit to a weekly tutoring shift that lasts for roughly 1 hour.
  • Help an adult/senior learn how to use their computer or other applications on their device.
  • Act as a resource and guide, helping them learn how to find verifiable resources and information.
  • Build relationships with diverse groups while honing your teaching skills.

Time commitment:
Tutors must commit to one shift per week for at least three months. Shifts are approximately 1 hour, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00-4:00 pm, PST.

Mission Statement

Community Tech Network (CTN) programs help ensure that everyone has the skills necessary to use digital technology and close the digital divide. CTN works with a variety of organizations to close the digital divide. CTN provides a range of services to address technology related issues faced by underserved communities. Our services include program planning, staff training, volunteer training, fund development, community outreach and evaluation support. Our partners include housing developments, senior centers, social service agencies and other community based organizations. Learners gain skills essential to full participation in our 21st century society such as how to access public services online, job-searching techniques, online education, and interacting with others online safely.


Raising the Level of Digital Literacy: CTN works with community partners to provide FREE access to computers, the Internet, and skilled instructors. However, with the rise in ownership of tablets and smartphones-among seniors in particular-many training sessions now help people optimize the use of their own device.

Getting More Households Online: Sometimes it simply isn’t feasible for someone to go to a library or community center to learn basic computer skills. Therefore, CTN works in partnership to help low-income families and older adults get connected to internet at home.

Creating Community-Tech Champions: CTN believes that for projects to be sustainable, there must be people who are dedicated to the cause and take a lead in their community
