ORGANIZATION: GIRL SCOUTS HEART OF THE HUDSON INC

  • 17 people are interested

Girl Scouts is a lot of fun, but it’s also a business with a corporate structure. When Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouts, she understood that dedicated and dynamic leaders were vital to helping girls develop their full potential. Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc is led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers.

The combined expertise of these individuals provides the leadership to set the direction of the Council and establish the governance that guides us. The role of the Board of Directors is to oversee the corporate business and governance of the Council, such as:

Working with the CEO to determine the vision of Girl Scouting and ensuring that appropriate resources exist to carry out strategic priorities.
Establishing policies necessary for the development and advancement of Girl Scouting in the Council’s jurisdiction.

Ensuring all governance documents are updated and maintained appropriately.

Ensuring that the Council is positioned in the community to achieve the maximum benefit for all girls.

Monitoring and evaluating the organization’s performance, directing resources in full support of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

One of the most powerful results of living the Girl Scout Law is the ability to exercise and recognize true leadership. Being honest and fair, courageous and strong, using resources wisely, respecting yourself and others, and making the world a better place...these are values that our Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers continually teach, model, and reinforce.

With the support, vision, and commitment of these role models, girls have the opportunity to find - and become - leaders in their communities and the world.

Description

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. (GSHH) was formed in October of 2007 as a result of merging five area Girl Scout councils in the mid and lower Hudson River Valley of New York State. Since the early days of Girl Scouting, Girl Scouts has been providing girls with extraordinary programming throughout the region. Currently, we serve over 20,000 girls in grades K through 12 and 10,000 adult volunteers. In Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson's geographic area, there are over 2,000 troops and groups providing Girl Scout program activities on a regular basis.
